Founded by Whiting Hispanic Heritage Organization. Whiting Empanada Fest was created as a Scholarship Fundraiser and as means to create awareness of the Latino Hispanic community in Whiting, Indiana
The First Empanada fest was celebrated September 11, 2022 and will continue to be celebrated annually during Hispanic Heritage Month.
First Festival
The size of this event was unexpected with vendors selling out of empanadas just hours into the event starting.
People from Whiting and neighboring cities gathererd and celebrated with live music, food and craft vendors, beer garden, and even a Kid Zone that was enjoyed by kids of all ages.
